JD Wetherspoon pulls into Lime Street

THE Head of Steam pub at Liverpool Lime Street railway station will be renamed after being sold to JD Wetherspoon.

It was an off-market deal and has given the stock market-listed pub chain its fifth site in the city.

The vendors were Carolyn and Tony Brookes who retained it when they sold seven other pubs in the Head of Steam Group to Hartlepool-based Camerons Brewery in December 2013.

Tim Martin of leisure property specialist Fleurets acted on behalf of JD Wetherspoon.

He said: “It is not just an attractive, prominent unit but also, very favourable lease terms which were secured by the outgoing tenant in exchange for a hefty premium a number of years before.”
