Flybe secures service deal for RAF planes

AIRLINE operator Flybe’s Aviation Services arm has reached agreement on a new eight-and-a-half-year contract with Airbus Defence and Space.

It will provide airframe-related maintenance, repair & overhaul (MRO) services for the Royal Air Force Fleet of A400M Atlas airlifters at RAF Brize Norton.

No monetary value has been put on the contract.

Flybe, Manchester Airport’s largest carrier in passenger volume terms, said it was selected following a rigorous competitive process based on a range of commercial, technical and quality requirement criteria.

Saad Hammad, Flybe’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have reached agreement on this significant contract with Airbus Defence and Space. This is a landmark agreement for Flybe Aviation Services and demonstrates the on-going benefits of our reorganisation and turnaround plan.
