Pakey departs Liverpool JLA for new role with parent

NEIL Pakey has stepped down from his role as managing director of Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport.

His departure comes three months after the airport’s owner, Peel Airports, sold a 65% stake in the division to Canadian company Vancouver Airport Services (YVRAS).

A spokesman for Peel Airports said Mr Pakey had taken up a new role with YVRAS as a senior director of network development.

“The role will take forward the YVRAS airports in the areas of global network development, including all areas concerning overall route development and marketing,” said a statement.

“YVRAS have also asked Neil to maintain his involvement in matters of aviation policy at the EU and UK level where he chaired the UK Airport Operators Association for three years.”

Mr Pakey is also no longer the deputy chief executive at Peel Airports. His former boss, Mark Whitworth, stepped down at the time of the deal in June but agreed to stay on in an advisory capacity for three months.

Peel’s loss-making airports business includes Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield and Durham Tees Valley Airport.
