As the Christmas celebrations get underway we want to thank you for your support in 2014.

It has been another eventful year for the region, from the shock resignation of Co-op chief executive Euan Sutherland in March to the jailing of former JJB Sports boss Chris Ronnie last week .

There was also the birth of George Osborne’s “Northern Powerhouse” concept , and the promise of greater power for the regions, with Manchester the first to sign a devolution deal with the government.
