WESLEYAN, the specialist financial mutual, has appointed Ian Copley as the new head of sales for its Medical North team.

He will lead a team of 94 financial consultants and seven area nanagers in the North, providing tailored advice and products to meet the needs of medical professionals.

Mr Copley is a chartered financial planner and a fellow of the personal finance society who brings more than 25 years’ industry experience to the role, most recently at Prudential Financial Planning, where he was regional director and interim sales director.

His career has also included spells at Coutts, Bank of Scotland Investment Service and Equitable Life Assurance Society.

STEVE Renfrew has been appointed as regional head of its wealth and investment management division in the North West.

In his new role, Steve will be responsible for managing the offices in Liverpool and Manchester, working closely with director James Bailey to oversee relationships with both existing and prospective high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients.

Renfrew, who has more than 27 years’ experience in financial services, Steve joins Barclays from Royal Bank of Scotland, where he was head of specialist banking and led a 200-strong team delivering investments and mortgages.

He said: “The North West is a hub of business and entrepreneurial activity at the moment, making it an exciting time to be joining the Barclays office. James and I are excited to be pooling our collective experience, working alongside the wider team to fulfill the needs of our local clients.”

LIVERPOOL law firm, O’Connors  has appointed  commercial lawyer Mike Ainsworth as its fifth partner. Ainsworth joins after nine years with global technology business CSC.

He said: “I know and love Liverpool having spent most of my 20 plus years in legal career in and around the city, including six years in private practice at DLA Piper.

“It is impressive to see how strongly Liverpool is building on its historical London links and re-establishing itself as a premiership player in international trade.

“Since deciding to move back into private practice, I have been looking for a firm whose operating model complements the in-house business advisory skills I have developed. I believe O’Connors’ lead advisory model does just that and will enable me to build on a successful formula to provide real value to senior management.”

McGoff & Byrne and New Care Projects, the Altrincham-based construction and care home operator, has appointed Andy Dodd as HR manager.

Dodd, 45, from Sale, who joins from Trafford Council, will cover both parts of the group in his newly-created role.

The family-owned business identified a need for the position following a period of sustained growth and expansion within both businesses, which has led to significant recruitment – staff numbers are now over 300.

EXPANDING recruitment consultancy Rowan Group has made a new hire in its office in Chorley, which opened in September 2014.

The Manchester-based firm has appointed Sarah Cottam as senior consultant.  Joining from SF Group she will be responsible for placing newly qualified ACA, ACCA and CIMA accountants through to financial controller roles for the fir’s senior financial recruitment division, Rowan Finance.
