500 new caring jobs for Greater Manchester

Home Instead Senior Care has announced the creation of 500 new jobs in Greater Manchester for the year ahead in a major recruitment drive starting in January.

The company, which has nine offices in the area is part of a national network which provides care to elderly people in their own homes.

Home Instead are citing latest figures from Age UK which report that there are now more pensioners than under 16s living in the UK and with many older people opting to remain in their own homes, there is a boom in demand for people in caring roles.

The need to employ more carers in the region is a reflection of a national trend which is a result of the ageing population, says the company.

A recent report from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills has identified the need to recruit more tanhalf a million carers by 2022. The report also listed caring as one of the careers of the future, and for caring and compassionate people, it creates a real opportunity.

David Moore, based at the Stockport office of Home Instead, said: “With an ageing population, caring for the elderly has never been a more important issue.

“The huge increase in demand for home care has resulted in a significant period of change and growth in social care, which is leading to a broader range of improved job opportunities in the sector.”

Home Instead Senior Care’s offices in the Greater Manchester are located in: Wigan, Sale and Altrincham, Blackpool, Bolton, Bury, East Cheshire, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside. The offices are part of a national network of over 150 offices employing over six thousand people.
