Furnishing centre’s delight at spike in sales

A PRIVATELY owned home furnishing centre is celebrating after reporting record sales during 2014.

Housing Units, based in Failsworth, Manchester, increased sales from £25.1m to 27.3m.

Main contributory factors included a double digit increase in in sales of furniture and a 30% uplift in Christmas department sales during the recent festive period.

2014 was backed by substantial investment in marketing and PR, centred around the store’s ‘All Your Favourite Things’ multi-channel campaign which launched early last year.

TV and Radio was supported with social media, video content and stunts, devised around the store’s quarterly sale launches.

Nick Fox, merchandise and marketing director at housing Units, said: “We’re delighted at the reported figures and excited to launch into 2015 on such a high.

“As a result we plan to recruit an additional 20 members of staff in the coming months, expand our offering through worldwide sourcing and continue to focus on high levels of customer service. We have big plans in the pipeline for the Spring and Summer already, which we hope will excite our customers looking for the total shopping experience.”

Housing Units was established in 1947, and currently boasts 200,000 square foot of retail and distribution space over a 10-acre site.
