Lettings latest: Merseyway boost & more

MERSEYWAY Shopping Centre in Stockport has completed lease renewals with a number of national retailers.

Waterstones, Topshop, Three Store and Thomas Cook have all renewed their leases, with local retailer Gabbott’s Farm also agreeing new terms.

The lease renewals follow on from a hat-trick of new lettings confirmed in late 2014 with F Hinds, West Coast and Santander all taking space at the centre.

Jacqueline O’Shea, director of property agents GVA and managing agent of Merseyway, said: “With footfall at Merseyway in 2014 exceeding 10 million for the fourth successive year, these lease renewals demonstrate the confidence retailers have in Stockport as a shopping destination.

“There has been a lot of positive news coming out of the town in recent months, with plans for the 80,000 sq ft Redrock development being approved and the developments in Stockport Council’s transport strategy which could see trams coming to Stockport, all of which can only enhance the town’s existing offering and benefit retailers at the centre in the long term.”

Tushingham Moore and Savills are letting agents for the centre.

THE industrial team at property consultant JLL has let three units at Warrington’s Taurus Park on behalf of Goldman Sachs.

Civil engineer BAM Nuttall has signed leases for two units, measuring 10,158 sq ft and 12,558 sq ft, with both leases on 10-year terms at £6.25 per sq ft. In addition, automotive parts supplier Clare James Trade Parts has agreed a five-year lease for a 5,991 sq ft unit, paying £6.48 per sq ft.

Richard Johnson, Associate Director, Industrial and Logistics at JLL, said: “The popularity of the well-maintained units at Taurus Park has been aided by the lack of similarly modern, vacant accommodation on the market in Warrington.

“The quick succession and good lease terms of these three lettings highlights the good rental growth the estate has seen. While the market continues to improve and only one 5,000 sq ft unit remains at the park, we’re confident in seeing a full-house at Taurus Park in the near future.”

JLL is the sole letting agent on the scheme. Morgan Sindall represented Bam Nuttall and Colliers represented Clare James Trade Parts.
