Zerum out to double income to £5m

MANCHESTER property consultancy Zerum is aiming to double its turnover from £2.5m within the next five years.

The company was founded in 2010, but the current structure only dates back its 2013 merger with King Associates and Red Property Services.

The presence of former Manchester United star Gary Neville as one of the five partners with a 20% stake in the company, coupled with Zerum’s involvement in the Hotel Football project next to Manchester United’ Old Trafford home has given the company something of an X-factor.

The other partners are Paul Devine, managing director Anthony Kilbride, Mike Ralph and Ged Tivey.

Apart from the high-profile Hotel Football scheme, Kilbride points to other major projects which he says are putting the Zerum – specialists in development and project management, planning  and MEP design – on the map.

In the North West, Zerum has been appointed as consultants at Middlewood Locks in Salford (planning), planning for Milliners Wharf, Manchester (the Hat Box), phase one of Peel’s ongoing MediaCity’s project, its full range of services at the Stock Exchange hotel development in Manchester city centre and has been appointed project manager and MEP design for Capital & Centric’s Aytoun Street redevelopment in a joint venture with Manchester Metropolitan University.

Zerum has also been appointed to provide a full service on Jacksons Row which is where Neville and former United team-mate Ryan Giggs are developing the old Synagogue site.

“The combined Zerum business has now completed its first year, in which turnover reached £2.5m which was our target,” said Kilbride. “We have also hit our target for margin and profit.

“We are now looking to push our business development and in five years’ time we are hoping to have doubled our turnover.

“To do this we need to grow by 18% per year, but we are trying to do this organically.

“Many of Zerum’s clients have been with the company or have worked with the individuals within it in excess of five to 10 years and we are keen to build and continue on that basis.”

Other projects, Zerum is engaged in include planning for a mixed-use development park at 1.2m sq ft Thorpe Park in Leeds, MEP design at The Shard for Al Jazeera TV in London, project management at Estuary Banks, Speke and at Salford Digital and planning for Ocean Plaza in Rhyl, North Wales.
