Projects vying for RIBA gong

THE Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has shortlisted 15 new projects as potential winners of the coveted Stirling Prize.

RIBA’s judging panel will be visiting a range of developments in the running for the honour across the North West region, from the extension and redevelopment of a much-loved art gallery – The Whitworth – in Manchester to the new Waitrose supermarket in Chester.

As well as the prestigious Building of the Year Award, which was picked up by the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool in 2014, the shortlist will also produce a Small Project of the Year Award for schemes costing less than £500,000.

North West-based architects Howard Miller Design, Pearson Architects and Snook Architects are vying for this prize alongside Carmody Groake’s Maggie’s Centre at Clatterbridge on the Wirral.
