Jobs go as fit-out contractor Maxim goes under

MORE than 40 jobs have been lost after a fit-out contractor based in Oldham was placed into administration.

Maxim Creative, whose clients included Kitbag, Kellogg’s Manchester United, Puma and Odeon Cinemas, traded from Osborne Mill on Osborne Street in the town.

The £5m turnover firm changed hands less than a year ago when it was acquired by sales director Michael McVey, who has now bought the assets of the failed business from administrators Smith and Williamson.

Smith and Williamson said in a statement: “The Maxim Creative Group entered administration on February 24 when Matthew Dunham, Nicholas Elliott and Andrew McGill were appointed joint administrators.

“It employed approximately 45 people who were all made redundant in the middle of February 2015. The workforce was based in Oldham.”

Matt Dunham, partner at Smith and Williamson in Manchester  said : “It simply ran out of cash. It incurred a number of costs through the management buyout plus an overhead base which it simply couldn’t support.”

Dunham added that assets of the Maxim Creative Group have now been bought by a newly incorporated company called One Design & Build. Michael McVey is the sole shareholder of One Design & Build.
