Planning in for Trafford Waters development

PROPERTY giant Peel has submitted a planning application for its £1bn Trafford Waters mega development on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal.

Peel’s scheme is projected to create more than 5,000 jobs plus 3,000 new apartments and 875,000sq ft of commercial space, including shops, offices and leisure and community facilities.

If the plan is approved, there will also be a school and, possibly, a hotel.

Trafford Waters would be linked to the  Trafford Centre by a Green Bridge, providing residents, employees and visitors with easy access to a bus station and Metrolink stop.

“Trafford Waters represents a unique opportunity to bring forward this prominent site for a development of sub-regional significance for Greater Manchester, raising the profile of Trafford borough and realising both Trafford council’s and Peel’s objectives for this important location,” the planning application states.
