Boulevard to Ordsall Hall through Digital Village

PLANS have been unveiled to build a new  public boulevard through the centre of  a new Digital Village opposite the Grade II listed Ordsall Hall in Salford.

The five-acre site was previously a disused factory until it was demolished and has been fenced off and derelict for several years.

Capital & Centric has brought forward the scheme to open up a new 40ft wide public ‘boulevard’ straight through the middle of the site to let visitors through to Ordsall Hall get direct access the River Irwell.

It also plans to put to a pontoon on the Irwell to create a drop off and collection point for the planned water taxi.

Development manager Max Bentham said: “We want to encourage people to visit Ordsall Hall and provide facilities for cyclists and walkers too.

“Creating a big new public boulevard will bring new life and activity to the area, which will be open 24/7, a similar  approach to our Kampus project.”

Capital & Centric acquired the site last year and have already started construction of 12 business units creating 40,000sq ft of space and more than 200 new jobs for the area.

The buildings have also been designed to be super energy efficient – a feature of all Capital & Centric’s schemes.

The company is also behind a plan to re-open Little David Street in Manchester as part of a joint venture with Henry Boot Developments.

It forms part of the £150m Kampus project which will see a whole new district of Manchester brought to life.
