Appointments: Sedulo; Freshfields; DWF & more

MANCHESTER-based accountant Sedulo has bolstered its tax offering with the appointment of David Evans.

Evans, 29, has joined the company from Cheshire based practice Howard Worth, where he was on the partner development programme.

He will take up a role which incorporates both commercial and personal tax responsibilities as per his previous duties and will also be on Sedulo’s partnership programme.

Sedulo is also looking to take on two tax apprentices studying towards the ATT qualification as the company targets growth this year of about 30%.

LAW firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed Anup Kollanethu as director for its combined legal and business services centre in Manchester.

Kollanethu will work closely with corporate partner Gareth Stephenson who is responsible for setting up the legal services operations in Manchester.

Stephenson has run the pilot project in London for the past 18 months and will lead the transition to and implementation in Manchester.

David Aitman, managing partner, said: “Anup’s extensive experience in building and managing shared services centres, together with his business and technology acumen will be of great value to us in establishing our Manchester office. We are delighted to have him on board.”

Kollanethu added: “I am very excited to join Freshfields as the firm launches this project. Meanwhile, Freshfields has signed a lease to take up 40,000sq ft at Arndale House from July onwards. The firm plans to open the shared legal and business services centre across the second half of 2015 with further growth in 2016.

LEGAL business DWF has appointed Chris Henshaw as a director in the firm’s real estate team in Manchester, where he will use his experience in construction, infrastructure and projects to support the firm’s national client base.

He joins the firm from Eversheds where he was a legal director in the construction and engineering team.

Henshaw specialises in construction procurement with a particular focus on complex waste PFI/PPP projects and in particular detailed due diligence on subcontracts for energy from waste facilities.

He has advised authorities and contractors on projects across a wide range of sectors including solar, transport, social housing, education, health and waste, and has experience in advising both public and private sector developers on a range of development projects including solar installation, commercial development, higher and further education projects and engineering contracts.

SECURE Trust Bank Real Estate Finance has appointed David Cunningham as head of the North of England.
 
Cunningham brings more than 13 years’ relationship management experience to the business.

Specialising in real estate finance, this includes equity, mezzanine and senior debt facility structuring, along with extensive experience in restructuring property lending.
 
Prior to his current role, he spent over 20 years at RBS and NatWest, where he held a variety of positions, most recently the role of relationship director, Real Estate Finance.

In his position at Secure Trust Bank Cunningham will lead deal origination, focusing on the £1m – £50m sector across the North of England. He will work closely with the existing Commercial Finance and Arbuthnot Latham Private Banking representatives in the North of England.
