COMMERCIAL law firm Kuits Solicitors has advised family-run confectionary giant Tommy Tucker on the purchase of RJ Foods.

Tommy Tucker is a specialist supplier of popcorn to the cinema industry, sending out more than 55 million servings of popcorn every year to  venues around the country and in excess of 30 million retail bags of popcorn.

RJ Foods, a UK-based provider of homemade flapjacks, was established in 1989 in a family kitchen, and has since grown to supply wholesalers in the UK and Europe.

Manchester-based Kuits provided in-depth commercial and legal advice to the management team of the Worksop-based Tommy Tucker. The deal was led by head of corporate for Kuits, Kirsti Pinnell, and assisted by solicitor James Skivington, both of whom have a strong track record in advising family-owned businesses.

Pinnell said: “We are delighted to have acted for our long-standing client in this significant purchase of shares, which will see the company diversify and expand its already successful product range.”

FOUR members of the set of Manchester-based barristers Kings Chambers, have been reappointed to sit on the sports tribunal panel of UK Sports Resolutions.

Dr Nicholas Braslavsky QC, David Casement QC, and Martin Budworth have all been reappointed to the Sport Resolutions Arbitration: Chairperson’s Panel.

Paul Johnson, head of mediation at Kings Chambers has been reappointed to the Sports Resolutions Mediation Panel.

David Casement QC, head of sports at Kings Chambers has also been reappointed to the UK National Anti-Doping Panel.

The Sports Resolutions panel is an independent London based panel which acts as the resolution service for sports across the UK. The panel provides sport specific arbitration and mediation services and operates the National Anti-Doping Panel and National Safeguarding Panel.

The panel have helped to resolve significant and high profile cases which includes UK’s first biological passport case, UK Anti-Doping vs Jonathan Tiernan-Locke.
