18th century Lakes hotel sold for £2.7m

THE Rampsbeck Hotel in Ullswater in the Lake District has been sold to the team behind Cornwall’s Watergate Bay Hotel for £2.7m.

The deal was brokered by international real estate adviser Savills on behalf of a private client.

The 19-bedroom country house hotel is set within 18 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds and also includes two self-catering cottages plus four staff lodges.

The main building, which dates back to the 1700s, has been fully refurbished and features a reception hall, lounge, bar and dining room.

Located on the shores of Lake Ullswater within the Lake District National Park, the hotel is close to the picturesque villages of Watermillock and Pooley Bridge.  The popular tourist towns of Penrith, Keswick and Windermere are between seven and 30 miles away.

Tom Cunningham, hotels director at Savills, said: “We are pleased to have secured the sale of one of the Ullswater’s most well-known hotels.

“With planning permission for a further eight bedrooms and spa, it offers significant development potential for the new owners as they expand their operations into the North.”

The Rampsbeck Hotel is the first acquisition for the newly launched Another Place hotel collection from the team behind Watergate Bay.
