Northern pallet hub to open in Warrington

UK pallet specialist Fortec Distribution Network is opening a regional hub in Warrington to serve the North of England.

The hub will be used by 15 Fortec members currently based in the North  and Ireland.

Fortec says the launch will help support planned growth across the Fortec network while bringing multiple benefits to the company and its members.

It will not only decrease fuel costs by reducing members’ stem mileage to and from their depots, giving Fortec a competitive edge over its rivals, it will also enable the company to provide an improved and more efficient service to end user customers.

Fortec’s green credentials too will be boosted, with drivers spending less time on the road, cutting CO2 emissions.

The heart of Fortec’s operation will remain at the 140,000sq ft hub in Northamptonshire, near to both the M1 and M6 where state-of-the-art equipment enables all palletised goods to be tracked, scanned and monitored at all stages of the distribution process.

Adrian Bradley, general manager operations, said: “The investment in this new hub demonstrates Fortec’s long-term commitment to ensuring maximum efficiency across the network.

“From the start, the hub will be dealing with approximately 10% of our overall volume each night under the leadership of Manager Kevin Huskie – a figure which is set to grow.”
