Appointments: Harrison Pitt Architects; UTCW; Pearson Solicitors & more

LANCASTER-based architecture practice Harrison Pitt Architects appointed Emma Newport an architectural assistant.

The 22-year-old from Bradford has joined the company after graduating from the University of Huddersfield with a BA honours degree in international architecture.

As part of the year-long industrial placement, she will work alongside the firm’s architects to help deliver projects across a range of sectors including residential, leisure and manufacturing.

She said: “Harrison Pitt Architects is currently designing a mix of both rural and urban schemes so I’m really enjoying working across a variety of projects.

“I love the way that spaces can make you feel and also how buildings help to define their location. I’ve wanted to be an architect for as long as I can remember so I’m thrilled to be on the road to becoming a fully qualified architect.”

LEE Barber is the new principal as of the new University Technical College Warrington (UTCW).
 
He arrives at  UTCW following a highly successful career in education, including  his recent role as principal at Warrington’s Studio School where he was responsible for building strong relationships with key stakeholders (including the DfE, Ofsted and Industry) and forging links with employer partners to enable the successful pre-opening and post-opening phase of the school’s developmnt.
 
When Barber begins his new role as head of UTCW in September he will be responsible for overseeing the management and development of Warrington’s new cutting edge educational institution that will specialise in engineering and energy when it opens in September 2016.

OLDHAM-based Pearson Solicitors has trebled the size of its property team following a year of sustained growth.

Pearson Solicitors, which has three offices in Oldham, Hollinwood and Ashton, is a full-service law firm providing corporate and commercial, employment, property, litigation and debt recovery services.

On the back of a 50% growth in revenue last year, the firm’s property team has grown from three to nine after recruiting additional support and promotions from within the existing team.

Alison Brown, from Heywood, joins Pearson as a commercial property assistant and has nearly a decade of experience working in both commercial and residential conveyancing.

Recent recruit Sarah Major has also graduated from her CILEx course to become a chartered legal executive and is completing the final stage to become a fellow.

NORTH Manchester-based Champion Accountants has bolstered its business advisory services division with two new hires.

Amy Hesford, 27, has joined the Worsley firm as an audit and accounts senior, whilst 29-year-old Louise Dean has been appointed to the position of payroll administrator.

Hesford, who holds several industry-specific qualifications, brings with her seven years’ experience, amassed at Champion’s Southport office.

The recent recruits are two of 13 new starters to join the Champion Group since the start of the year, which includes Champion Accountants, Champion Contractors and Champion Insurance Brokers.
