San Carlo celebrates revenue of £46.2m

RESTAURANT group San Carlo, which has five sites across Greater Manchester and one in Liverpool is toasting a 12.5% increase in turnover to £46.2m.

Profits have also risen 4% as the group targets further domestic and international expansion.

The company founded in 1992 by Carlo Distefano – father of current managing director Marcello – also operates sites in, Leeds, London and Leicester, in addition to overseas outlets in Bangkok, Kuwait and Beirut.

Recently, it extended its offering to include Venetian taps restaurants Cicchetti and cocktail bar, restaurant and late lounge brand Fumo which have opened in Manchester and London in the last three months.

The group says it is looking to broaden its horizons by focus opening the two brands in Qatar and Bahrain.

Openings are also planned for restaurants in Istanbul and China, with the firm targeting £55m turnover next year.

Marcello Distefano said: : “It’s been another busy year for the group, and the success of our newer brands is evident in the excellent growth figures that we are witnessing at present.
 
“We’re focused on maintaining this momentum, and are looking to offer our innovative concepts to new and exciting markets.

“With our latest Fumo site in Manchester already proving popular, we’re looking forward to extending our offer into Asia, where we have seen considerable appetite from our Signor Sassi brand.”
