Accountant targeting £2m turnover

ACCOUNTANT Alexander Knight & Co has doubled the size of its office space near Manchester Airport as it grows its client base of entrepreneurs.

The practice, which currently employs 10 people has attracted 10 new clients in the last two months and remains on track for a £2m turnover by the end of next year.

It also secured official ACA Training Employer status from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) which means it can train people, including young apprentices, to become chartered accountants.

Founder Murray Patt said: “We’re growing our business through recommendations and introductions from other professionals. Businesses I’ve worked with in the past are also seeing what we’re doing here and are returning to my practice.

“We’re excited about the future and it’s clear there is a gap in the market for providing smart, tactical advice which is normally the preserve of the large accountancy firms. We’re proud to have recently secured ACA Training Employer status and it means that we can invest and recruit for the next generation of accountants here in Manchester.”

Alexander Knight & Co, was founded by Murray who started his accountancy career in London before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in Manchester. He then became an equity partner at Stockport-based HURST. There he spent almost 15 years advising entrepreneurs on business strategy, exit strategies, tax and audit matters.
