City on track with South Korean tyre firm

MANCHESTER City has announced a global partnership with South Korea-based Nexen Tire, the tyre and tubing brand.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but City said Nexen Tire would be one of its “most significant” Asia-based partners.

As well as having a wide-ranging rights package as part of the agreement, including an LED presence at all of Manchester City’s home games at the Etihad Stadium, Nexen Tire will also assume naming rights of the community bridge linking the Etihad Stadium with the City Football Academy.

Speaking at the signing at the City Football Academy, Ferran Soriano, chief executive of Manchester City said: “We are very happy to welcome Nexen Tire as our newest global partner.

“We have millions of followers in South Korea and we will be able to provide them with more engaging experiences. Nexen is not only a well-established South Korean brand, but has a strong ambition to grow globally like we do. This partnership builds a strategic relationship that will enable us both to meet our objectives.”

Ho-Chan Kang, president of Nexen Tire added: “Manchester City FC is the perfect partner for Nexen Tire, considering its position in the league as one of the top-class football clubs with their decisive investment in and recruitment of top stars.”

He also added: “This will provide us a great opportunity to let customers around the world know about Nexen Tire through the partnership with Manchester City FC, which has numerous fans across all continents. We will strengthen our brand power through continuous sports marketing.”

Meanwhile Everton FC  has renewed its deal with ticket marketplace operator StubHub until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Sam Lucas, head of partnerships at Everton, said: “Season ticket holders have been using the ticket resale service for the past three years as it offers them flexibility.

“Buying a Season Ticket is a big commitment so knowing you have the option to sell your seat for games you cannot attend on a safe and trusted site, is very reassuring and enables you to get even more value for money.”

StubHub has been a partner of Everton since 2012.
