MediaCom profits hit £5.2m

MEDIA planning and buying agency MediaCom North has seen its pre-tax profits increase by 18% to £5.2m and says further organic growth can be expected for 2015.

Gross profit increased to £18.9m (2013: £15m) for the year to the end of December 2014, whilst turnover increased by £48.6m (24%) on the previous year.
“This growth was achieved through a larger client portfolio and substantial growth in the provision of digital (internet) advertising services,” said Paul Wheeler, chief operating officer for MediaCom North Group, in the company accounts.
“We expect the company to achieve further organic growth during 2015 based on market opportunities and recruited talent.”
Turnover stood at £249m, up from £200m a year earlier – a figure that seems particularly high because it comprises the value of billings and reflects the gross value of advertising expenditure incurred by the company on behalf of its clients.
MediaCom North, part of  WPP Group since its sale in 2006, plans and buys all forms of advertising media and is one of the largest TV buyers outside of London with clients such as  Money supermarket, JD Sports, Injury lawyers4U, Subway and Vax Cleaners.
The Manchester-based company, which also has offices in Birmingham and Leeds, saw staff numbers increase by 27 to 183 over the year.
