Strategic positioning pays dividends for theEword

A CHANGE in structure and operational direction has seen turnover at digital marketing agency theEword increase by 37% to £2.2m.

The agency has made a number of changes in 2015 – bringing a dedicated marketing team in-house and focusing more on the full digital marketing sphere. It strengthened its strategic approach to client briefs, adding a planning and insights team and rolling out fully integrated campaigns.
It has also opened an office at Media City UK to complement existing operations in Trafford Park.
Launched in 2006 and employing 47 staff, clients include TJ Hughes, Merlin Entertainments and The Co-operative Bank.

The 37% increase in turnover from £1.6m in 2013/14 to £2.2m in2014/15, was coupled with a doubling of profits over the same period.

Daniel Nolan, managing director of theEword, said: “Digital marketing is a sector that continually evolves. We know that we need to be flexible and able to adapt in order to continue to perform as well as we have done over the past nine years. As such, we began implementing a number of operational changes as early as 2014, which are now coming to fruition and delivering exceptional results for us as a business.

“Businesses no longer just need an SEO solution or PPC spend managed – in order to make the most of online activity, they should take a cohesive approach to digital marketing using multiple channels. This requirement, in turn, means that the agencies they rely on to provide digital marketing support need to be fully versed in every discipline.”

As part of its plan to educate businesses about the possibilities within digital marketing, theEword has launched a training scheme, offering business owners – as well as marketers – the chance to learn about the online sphere directly from the agency.

The first event covered the foundations of digital marketing, such as assessing the strength of website structures, producing engaging, key-word rich content and addressing developments in industry-wide best practice. The next session will be on September 9.
