The company will continue to operate from its existing fleet and will retain its current management team. The deal, the value of which was undisclosed, was brokered by the corporate team at the Manchester office of law firm Mills & Reeve.

TIP has more than 70 branches – including one in Manchester –  in 16 countries.

TIP UK general manager Mike Furnival said: “We are very excited about the acquisition of Bell Trailers as we are acquiring an excellent business which is fully focused on delivering quality equipment and service to their customers.

“The addition of TIP’s service products, combined with our UK and European network should only enhance the excellent service currently being provided.”

Bell Trailers was established in 1988, and has grown to its existing fleet size through strong organic growth. It has operated from its existing site in Nelson, Lancashire since 1998.

Bell Trailer’s Managing Director Michael Bell said: “The timing was right for us to complete this deal and we firmly believe that further growth will be achieved under the ownership of a company that we trust, and will continue to provide excellent service to our existing customers.”

Chris Ross, partner and Fay Clifford, senior associate in the corporate team at Mills & Reeve, advised Bell Trailers. Chris said: “We are delighted to advise the shareholders of Bell Trailers on the sale. The acquisition will provide Bell Trailers with an excellent platform to achieve its growth potential and will be a great addition to TIP business.”
