Contractor appointed for East Manchester development

MANCHESTER Life Development Company has appointed a main contractor for the first of six sites in phase one of a scheme which will see more than 900 homes built in East Manchester.

John Sisk & Son has been appointed to deliver on Manchester Life’s target to set a new benchmark for residential property development in Manchester.

Planning Permission was granted in July 2015 for the redevelopment of the currently vacant New Union Street Site, with the project designed to meet the pressing need for well-managed rental homes, with outstanding levels of customer service, communal spaces and a range of amenities and facilities on site.

The project includes commercial units on the marina front, which will be accessible to the public.

Site work is expected to start in October, with apartments ready for occupation in the autumn of 2017.

Manchester Life is the residential property development company owned by Manchester City Council and Abu Dhabi United Group, which is driving the sympathetic and sustainable redevelopment of Ancoats and New Islington into vibrant and inclusive communities.
