Designer Habitat H1 sales soar to £14m

A MANCHESTER business is celebrating a 40% increase in half-year sales to £14m as it launches a new partnership with Tesco.

Designer Habitat – the kitchen and homewares product specialist – has reported a growth in sales from a total of £10m during the first six months of 2014 to £14m in the same period this year, with plans to reach £38m in sales during this financial year.

The figures come after the company’s two brands – VonShef and VonHaus – launched online with retail giant, Tesco, helping it to expand its target market further.

Products listed with Designer Habitat include home and garden essentials, with early indications highlighting blenders and coffee machines as the most popular products to date.

Designer Habitat chief executive Mark Januszewski said: “We’ve had an incredibly successful 2015 to date and our momentum remains strong.

“Our period of growth during the last financial year is mainly down to how we quickly we can respond to consumer trends and bring products to market. We work hard to maintain high levels of service with all customers and are constantly looking at ways to increase brand awareness and boost customer loyalty.”

Designer Habitat sources and supplies functional, practical and innovative products suitable for the kitchen and home. Ranges are developed in-house at Designer Habitat’s head office in Manchester, with new products being sold to the consumer via its newly launched e-commerce site, Domu, and Amazon.

Now, the company is looking to expand its offering overseas and is hoping that this will lead to a further 40 per cent growth in sales by the end of the next financial year.

Januszewski added: “While we’re continuing to develop new products to meet our customers’ ever-changing needs, part of our ongoing business strategy is to now focus our efforts on making in-roads overseas.

“Export sales will be a key area for us over the coming months and we hope that by nurturing these relationships, we can look forward to further growth by this time next year.”
