£1bn and rising – Mayor hails ACC’s contribution

THE ACC Liverpool Group says it has generated £1bn for the city economy since it opened in 2008.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson revealed the figure as the venue launched its new Exhibition Centre at an event attended by guests.

Hailing the group’s “incredible success”, he said the new 8,100 sq metre exhibition centre would: “support our visitor economy, creating jobs, attracting visitors, boosting leisure attractions and, crucially, putting Liverpool exactly where it belongs – in the centre of the world map.”

Bob Prattey, chief executive of The ACC Liverpool Group, added: “Our launch event provided us with the opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the new building and of our staff.

“Expanding our venue will enable us to bring more high profile events into Liverpool and in turn generate more economic impact into the city region.

Exhibition Centre Liverpool features three prinicipal halls, a glazed atrium with waterfront views as well as cafes,  a number of meeting rooms and a box office. It also includes an integrated four-star 216-room Pullman hotel which opens in January.

ACC Group also includes the 11,000 capacity Echo Arena, Liverpool, the BT Convention Centre and ticketing agency TicketQuarter.
