Better Bathrooms opens first Scottish store

MULTI-channel retailer Better Bathrooms, has taken its first steps north of the border with its first Scottish showroom in Edinburgh.

The Leigh company’s ninth showroom is located in a former car dealership on Gorgie Road. Its investment in the 23,495 sq ft facility had created 10 jobs.

Backed by the Business Growth Fund, Better Bathrooms, which began as an online busiuness, has won multiple awards and is closing-in on £50m annual turnover.

The company, the largest independent bathroom retailer, says its showrooms are unique in that they offer more than 5,000 products on display and also sell at internet prices in store.

Chief executive and founder Colin Stevens said, “It is great to be opening our new concept bathroom and tiles megastore in Scotland.

“I am convinced that the people of not just Edinburgh but all over Scotland will come to our showroom because of the wide range of choice available and with our price promise, we guarantee to beat any price.  I am really excited as this will be our best store yet.”

In 2007, Better Bathrooms’ annual turnover was ust over £1m and in the last financial year revenues were £49.5m. The company aims to double its growth over the next three to five years.

It is looking for more stores and is working with commercial property consultants Robert Pinkus & Co to find the right sites.
