Hermes Parcelnet set to handle one million parcels a day

HERMES Parcelnet is set to double its parcel handling capacity with the expansion of its Omega Warrington distribution hub on a further three acres of land.

From its adjacent 160,000 sq ft distribution hub the capacity will rise from 500,000 per day to about one million parcels.

Aherne Property Consultants, together with Lambert Smith Hampton, acted on behalf of Hermes in the acquisition of the land from Warrington Omega Ltd.

Aherne secured an immediate sale and leaseback of the land with Hermes’ existing landlord LaSalle Investement managers, agreeing an 18-year term.

Williams Tarr has been appointed as the contractor to carry out the works, providing additional HGV capacity and is due to be fully operational shortly.

Andrew Aherne of Aherne Property Consultants said: “This was an excellent deal for all parties involved and I am pleased that we were able to secure a positive outcome for our client.”

Adam Leach of Hermes added: “This was an important asset for Hermes to acquire in order to enable growth plans at our adjoining facility – the space here will facilitate our continued growth and improve operational efficiency from this strategically important distribution hub.”

Established in 2014, Aherne Property Consultants was founded by Aherne who was previously head of industrial agency at LSH for eight years.

Bilfinger GVA and Jones Lang LaSalle acted for Omega Warrington.
