70 new jobs at Liverpool social enterprise

ALMOST 70 new jobs are being created by social enterprise PSS after it secured the contract to run two Liverpool day centres.

Support workers and managers are now being recruited by the city-based charity to work in day support services with adults with learning difficulties.

The contract to run the centres is one of several recently secured by PSS, which has been working in Liverpool for nearly 100 years plugging the gaps and providing ‘on the ground’ support for a wide array of people.

“It is great news that we are able to create such a significant number of jobs,” said Pam Booth, head of service at PSS. “Our aim is simple and has been at the heart of what we do for a long time; to make the lives of those we work with better.

“We are looking to recruit passionate, creative people who share this ethos and are committed to supporting adults with learning difficulties. There is a wealth of talent in this area and we’re looking forward to hearing from potential employees.”

The new roles will be based at day centres in the north and south of the city after PSS secured the contract to run the centres from Liverpool City Council. The charity is also looking to recruit support workers for community support and supported living.

It comes during a period of growth for PSS which recently launched its Shared Lives scheme in Manchester, a project it has run successfully in Merseyside for several years.

Lesley Dixon, chief executive of PSS, said: “These are exciting times for PSS as we are given ever increasing opportunities to work with an incredibly wide and diverse group of people.

“We pride ourselves on our innovation as we constantly develop services to meet people’s needs. We’re all looking forward to expanding our team and welcoming new staff
