Natural spring water firm loses its fizz

A FAMILY-owned Lancashire mineral water business has been closed down amid tough trading and continuing losses.

The Trough of Bowland Spring Water Company, based at Far Lodge Farm, Quernmore near Lancaster, produced still and sparkling bottled water from a natural spring from an underground lake.

The company has appointed Mark Ranson and Daryl Warwick of accountancy firm Armstrong Watson as joint administrators.

Mr Ranson said: “The business ceased to trade prior to the appointment of joint administrators and the one remaining employee was made redundant by the company at that time.

“The company suffered continuing losses during a period of tough trading conditions and the director had no alternative but to make the decision to cease to trade.”

The joint administrators have instructed Sanderson Weatherall as agents to assist in the sale of the business and assets.
