Ryanair launches six new routes from Manchester

BUDGET airline Ryanair is trumpeting six new routes from Manchester Airport in the launch of its summer 2016 schedule.

With an additional aircraft based in Manchester, new services to Slovakian capital of Bratislava, Bremen in Germany, Brindisi on the Adriatic coast of Italy, Carcassone in the south of France , western France destination Limoges and Malta.

With more flights added to 10 other routes, Ryanair is expected to deliver 500,000 new customers  – 3.8 million in total – and support 2,800 on site jobs as the airline grows by 25% at the Airport.

The extra aircraft will bring its total number based in Manchester to eight and the destinations where flights will be added are: Alicante (two daily), Barcelona (two daily), Dublin (six daily), Faro (two daily), Ibiza (one daily), Madrid (one daily), Milan B (nine weekly), Rome (nine weekly), Valencia (three weekly) and Warsaw (three weekly).

It will take the number of weekly flights to 250 on 49 routes.

Ryanair’s chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs told TheBusinessDesk: “Manchester is one of the fastest growing airports in the Ryanair network, and we look forward to working closely with Manchester Airport Group as we continue to grow jobs, traffic and routes in the North West.

He said that Manchester was now its second biggest operation in the UK and is bigger than Berlin, Madrid and Rome.

“The reason why we’re doing this is because there is greater demand across Europe for flights into Manchester,” he said.

“There are two types of travelers. One is businesses, like German car manufacturers and Italian pharmaceutical firms wanting to come here and more demand for leisure travelers wanting to come to the North West to access destinations like Manchester and the Lake District.

“The other reason is that people in the North West are feeling better economically and want to fly to the sunshine destinations.

“The extra flights to Milan, Rome and Warsaw are predominantly for business travel.”

To celebrate the launch its summer schedule, Ryanair are releasing 100,000 seats for sale across our European network at fares starting from £19.99, which are available for booking until midnight Thursday (29 Oct).
