Booths creates 60 jobs with latest opening

FAMILY-owned independent grocer Booths has created 60 jobs with its latest store opening.

The Preston-based company founded in 1847, which now has more than 30 stores in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, has opened a 34,000 sq ft unit at the Teanlowe Centre, Poulton le Fylde.

To mark the store launch a spectacular festive sculpture from seasonal fruit and nuts was created to celebrate the producers – many of them from the North West- which Booths work with.

Chairman Edwin Booth said: “It’s wonderful to open a store in Poulton le Fylde, especially just before Christmas when the stores begin to look especially lovely. It’s fantastic to be a part of the newly regenerated Teanlowe Centre and we look forward to welcoming Booths shoppers old and new.

“We work hard to develop strong and meaningful relationships with artisan suppliers both locally and globally. Retailing exceptional food and drink is the essence of Booths, and coupled with great knowledge and service, is what sets Booths apart from the crowd and marks us as special.”

Booths is well known for sourcing exceptional quality products, freshly and seasonally from the region. A number of Booths loyal local suppliers joined the family to officially open the store, including Mrs Kirkham’s Cheese, Roots Vegetable Crisps, Peter Ascroft Golden Beetroot and Rude Health.

The new store contains a café and fresh food counters, including a butcher, fishmonger, delicatessen, hot food and cheesemonger; alongside a wide range of wine, beer and spirits.
