Ambitious Export is GREAT campaign launches

A NEW long-term campaign to offer businesses instant access to real-time export opportunites has been launched.
The Exporting is GREAT drive has been unveiled to mark the launch of UK Trade and Investment’s Export Week activities, which include events across the North West.
Exporting is Great aims to get 100,000 additional companies exporting by 2020 and is the government’s most ambitious export campaign to date. For the first time, it will present real-time export opportunities across media outlets and digital channels to businesses – of all sizes, from across sectors and every region of the UK – that they can apply for immediately.
The platform will go live with hundreds of business opportunities, which will be available at www.exportingisgreat.gov.uk . Around 1,000 more will come online each month.
Coinciding with the launch, a series of events will be held across the UK as part of Exporting is GREAT Week. These are aimed at more experienced exporters as well as those that are about to take their first steps into intenational markets.
In the North West, UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and its partners are together staging eight events and three webinars.
The week’s keynote event in the North West is Explore Export at Old Trafford football stadium on Friday from 8.30am to 4pm – at which market specialists from around the world who are experts in their chosen countries will help businesses take their first or next step in exporting.
More than 50 UKTI experts and British Chamber of Commerce representatives from over 40 global markets will offer free detailed export advice.
Among the partners exhibiting at Explore Export is the International Festival for Business 2016. IFB2016, in partnership with UKTI and the GREAT campaign, is three weeks of events, networking and deal-making opportunities for businesses from across the globe, from June 13 – July 1 2016.
More 35,000 delegates are expected to attend the festival, which will host more than 70 high quality events, focusing on the key sectors of Manufacturing, Energy and Environment and Digital and Creative.
Clive Drinkwater, UKTI regional director for the North West said: “As the world becomes ever more globalised and digital, the potential for businesses of all sizes to reach out to new customers and lucrative new markets beyond the UK has never been greater. UKTI will continue to work with customers across the region, including through Exporting is GREAT, to realise this potential.”
