People: CFO for Man Utd; UKFast; & more

MANCHESTER United  has appointed 45-year-old Cliff Baty as its chief financial officer.

Baty, an accountant who trained with EY, and has worked at Ladbrokes, will join from Sportech, the pools and gaming business, where he is a board director and CFO.

Executive vice president Ed Woodward said: “We are very pleased to welcome Cliff to the club. He is a proven finance executive who brings a wealth of international business experience, and will be an excellent addition to our senior management team.”

CLOUD infrastructure firm UKFast has increased its marketing muscle with the recruitment of marketing specialist Lucy Hardaker.

Hardaker joins the fast-growing company as campaign manager, with a particular focus on designing, driving and measuring the effectiveness of campaigns, following three years with lead generation specialists, Lead Forensics.

Hardaker said: “Working with Lawrence and the team at UKFast is amazing. I have end-to-end control, yet I’m learning from someone who lives and breathes the UKFast brand.”

UKFast has grown its team to 250 members this year and has a current run rate of £37m, having turned over £28.9m in 2014.

NORTH West law firm Hillyer McKeown has begun a major expansion of its residential property team.
 
The company with offices in Liverpool Chester, the Wirral and Deeside has undertaken significant growth in their residential property team since September and now a further 10 people will be joining the department before the New Year.
 
Among those to have joined the firm is Tricia Lonorgan, who takes the role of head of operations in residential conveyancing.

She has more than 25 years’ experience in the sector and has more recruitment planned in the first quarter of next year.
 
The expansion of the team is due to the increased confidence and activity in the North West property market together with plans to offer a national conveyancing service throughout England and Wales.

ENGINEERING, environmental and planning consultancy Caulmert has increased its expertise in project management after appointing an additional director.

Chris Davies has joined the Altrincham, Greater Manchester-based firm in the role of director of project management as part of an intensive recruitment campaign.
 
Davies, 46, has more than 25 years’ experience in the construction sector, and was formerly business director at professional support service firm Capita.
 
Prior to that he was head of property and assets at Denbighshire County Council, where he led an 80-strong team of professional, technical and support staff managing the local authority’s property portfolio.

Previous roles have also included managing private and public construction projects for clients such as the Welsh Government, DWP, Ministry of Defence, Gwrp Llandrillo Coleg, Superdrug and Lidl.

Davies’s appointment forms part of a wider recruitment drive at Caulmert to meet its predicted growth. The firm doubled its turnover to more than £2m over the last 12 months.

He said: “Caulmert has provided a great opportunity for me to focus on project management and reinforce this aspect of the business.

“I’ll be taking a hands-on role with a number of projects and sharing my experience with the rest of the team.”

EUAN Kellie Property Solutions, based in Cheadle, South Manchester, has announced that Kathy Bibby and Jessica Davison have joined the company.
 
Bibby, who has previously worked for Gladman Developments and Taylor Young, joins as a consultant with over 15 years’ experience in the planning profession.
 
She will provide support to directors Euan Kellie and Kelly Paddick, and other members of the team, in delivering planning advice and managing the preparation and submission of planning applications on behalf of the firm’s growing client base.

Davison joins with more than 15 years’ experience in the property industry, which has included working for firms such as Donaldsons, DTZ, and more recently JLL.

She has joined Euan Kellie as business manager and will provide support in business management related matters.

MERSEYSIDE construction industry health and safety firm Innov8 has made a triple appointment to boost resource following a surge in demand.

Experienced health and safety consultant Peter McConville, construction design management (CDM) safety advisor Max Meadows and office manager Emma Greaves have all joined the firm in quick succession.
 
McConville, 44, brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience having worked in the industry since 2004.
 
Wirral Metropolitan College graduate Meadows previously worked for asbestos consultancy firm Lucion Environmental while Greaves adds greater depth as a former health and safety administration assistant.
 
Innov8 managing director Alan Robson said the trio would each play an important part in helping the firm to build on its rapid growth – Innov8’s turnover leapt from £440,000 to £700,000 in 2014, and has ambitious plans to break through the £1m barrier in 2016.
 
“Peter, Max and Emma will all perform crucial roles here at Innov8,” he said.

NAPTHENS  solicitors has become one of the few law firms in the region to appoint an apprentice.

Declan Duffy will be working in the plot sales team within the firm’s commercial property department in Preston.

The 19-year-old from Lytham, who completed A Levels at Cardinal Newman College in Preston, is completing a legal services apprenticeship through the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).

MANCHESTER-based Forbes Solicitors has promoted associate solicitor Tom Smith to lead its dispute resolution team.
 
Smith, who joined Forbes in July 2015, advises in relation to commercial disputes, providing strong, commercial advice to SME’s, partnerships and owner managed businesses across the country.

His specialisms include disputes arising from contracts, disputes between shareholders, professional negligence claims and contentious insolvency issues.
