Tributes paid to financier Dr Kevin Wilson

TRIBUTES have been paid to Dr Kevin Wilson, a respected and popular member of the North West corporate finance community, who passed away last week aged 64.

Colleagues described Dr Wilson as the “grandfather” of the Manchester investment banking and stockbroking industry. He had been suffering a short illness.

In a statement Alex Clarkson, who founded Diagnostic Capital with Wilson, said: “He will be dearly missed by a number of people whose life he positively impacted.

“Kevin had helped to create a number of corporate finance businesses including Charlton Seal, Albert E Sharp, Zeus Capital and Diagnostic Capital. Kevin had also been influential and an investor in a number of prominent healthcare companies is the UK including EKF Diagnostics, Collagen Solutions, Arcis and Epistem.”

Another long-time friend, Ian Currie of Seneca Partners, added: “Kevin was the first person I worked for in stockbroking in 1986. You can never think of Kevin without smilng. He was great company, a great brain and a great loss.”

Dr Wilson was also a part time lecturer of corporate finance for Manchester Business School and at other business schools across Europe.
