easyJet unveils new route to Montenegro

AIRLINE easyJet has  announced it will operate a new route to Tivat in Montenegro  next summer from Manchester Airport.

Montenegro will become easyJet’s 32nd country in its network and the 45th destination available from Manchester Airport.

The new connection is the only one offered to Tivat by any UK airline outside  London.

Tivat also serves the Mediterranean port of Kotor, a UNESCO World heritage site which was named as the number one city to visit in the world in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel yearbook for 2016.

The coastal town on the bay of Kotor is also home to Porto Montenegro a new modern super-yacht marina.

The airline is expected to fly 15,000 passengers a year to and from Tivat throughout the summer, operating twice a week with flights starting on March 27.

Ali Gayward, commercial manager at easyJet, said: “”With its Mediterranean climate and a vibrant coastline littered with beaches, this is a truly up and coming destination which will provide more than a match for the long-established med resorts.”

“We expect this new route will not take long to become a firm favourite as an easy and affordable summer destination for our customers.”

Ian Whitting, British Ambassador to Montenegro said: “This marks a new phase in the UK’s strengthening bilateral relationship with Montenegro, and I am sure it will be a huge success.”

Stephen Turner, commercial director for Manchester Airport, said: “Tivat is a destination that has never been served from Manchester and we’re sure it will prove popular with the 22 million people in our catchment area.
