Law firm hits 300 staff as revenues soar

LAW firm JMW has hailed “exceptional growth” after revealing staff numbers have topped 300 for the first time ever.

The Manchester-based firm said revenues in the first seven months of its current financial year are nearly 18% ahead of last year.

Fee income to the end of November was £11.8m compared to £9.9m this time last year. This puts the firm well on course to achieve more than its £20m target by the financial year end.

The financial year of 2014/2015 was the most successful year in the firm’s history as income hit  £19.4m.  Over the last five years revenues have rocketed by 90% from £10.2m to £19.4m.

Reflecting this strong growth, employee numbers at the Spinningfields-based firm have more than doubled since 2010.

In the past year the firm has recruited at every level with a net 40 new hires, including seven partners including Mike Blood as head of corporate from Brabners, Mike Rainford from Burton Copeland and Derek Millard-Smith from Hill Dickinson who joined the firms business crime and regulation team.

In employment the firm hired Liz Cotton, while three partners joined commercial property –  Warren Martin, Tom Cressey and Majid Mahmood.
