Progress Care swallowed by Priory Group

PROGRESS Care, a specialist education and care provider based in Preston, has been sold to Priory Group for a multi-million pound price.

Progress supports children and young adults with high acuity learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and autism. The business serves local authority clients from across the UK.

It has an annual turnover in excess of £7m and employs around 250 staff.

London-headquartered Priory Group is a provider of behavioural care, trading through four divisions – Priory Healthcare, Priory Education, Craegmoor and Amore Care. It has annual turnover in excess of £500m.

Birmingham advisory firm Orbis Partners’ Shah Zaki and Peter Bull originated and led the deal.

Zaki, a partner at Orbis, said: “I am delighted that we have concluded a deal that matched the aspirations of the shareholders.

“We identified Priory as a strong potential strategic buyer at an early stage given their existing portfolio of specialist care activities.”
