Artorius founder Richard Algar dies at 47

TRIBUTES have been paid to Richard Algar, the founder and chief executive of investment  management firm Artorius Wealth, who has died suddenly aged 47.

Richard Algar, who founded Artorius 18 months ago after leaving international bank Credit Suisse, lived in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire. He leaves a wife and three daughters.

Richard spent much of his professional career in Manchester and had more than 20 years’ experience in managing the wealth of families and individuals with Barclays and Merrill Lynch and for 12 years Credit Suisse.

He founded Artorius in 2014 and the Manchester headquartered firm now has 27 staff and offices in London and Zurich.

In a statement Christopher Carter, the firm’s chairman, said: “Our thoughts and prayers are first and foremost with Richard’s wife Yanna and their three daughters who have lost an amazing husband and father.
 
“Richard was known as a professional of the highest integrity. He was universally respected and liked by all who were fortunate to have known him. He will be sorely missed by all of us. His passion for doing the right thing in the right way was appreciated by all of those who knew him, and his unswerving desire to put clients first was the driving force behind the establishment of Artorius.”
 
“Richard led the recruitment of the Artorius team and he ensured that his ethics and passion ran through the heart of the business. The Artorius team is committed to continue the work he commenced, and we will ensure his legacy continues successfully.”

Aside from Artorius, Mr Algar was a guest lecturer on ethics at Lancaster University Business School.
