Urban Splash wins Salford green light

URBAN regeneration specialist Urban Splash has been awarded planning consent for more than 170 homes in Salford.

The property developer is creating Irwell Riverside, a new waterfront community off Trinity Way in Salford.

The approval from Salford City Council means that Urban Splash can now progress with the development of 100 apartments and 71 family hoUSe units.

Salford will be the third development for Urban Splash’s hoUSe concept – work is already under way at  Smith’s Dock in North Tyneside and New Islington in Manchester.

hoUSe gives customers the opportunity to create their own architect-designed home, determining their preferred layout in either a 1,000sq ft two storey home or 1,500sq ft three storey property.

Urban Splash director Nathan Cornish said: “We feel that the city centre needs a mix of different homes and this site offers us the chance to deliver both family housing and apartments within one inter-connected site.

“Judging by the demand there is a huge appetite among customers for well designed family homes in and around Manchester and our offerings at New Islington – and now at Irwell Riverside – give new options for families that might otherwise feel their only option is to move out to the suburbs.”

hoUSe has been designed with the help of architects shedkm. The homes adopt a traditional terraced approach, but internally layouts can be configured to tailor anything from one to five bedrooms, plus open plan living spaces dictated by the buyer

The company will now move forward with the detailed design and groundworks is targeting to be on site later in 2016.
