Airport’s £1.5m lounge expansion

MANCHESTER Airport is investing more than £1.5m on an extension and revamp of it pay-to-enter passenger lounge in Terminal 2.

The £1.6m project will increase the size of the Escape Lounge by more than a third, increasing capacity to 212 passengers.

The new-look Escape Lounge will also see the addition of a kitchen and bar to the main lounge, which is being created from knocking two rooms into one.

The Escape Lounge, which is located above the Terminal 2 departures hall, will reopen at the end of April.  During this period qualifying airline customers will be provided with a voucher to use at a selection of restaurants and bars in the terminal.

The Escape Lounges located in Terminals 1 and 3 both remain open and available for passengers to pre-book via the Manchester Airport website.

Originally launched in Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 in 2009, MAG has successfully grown its Escape Lounge brand – adding a second in Terminal 1 in 2010 and in Terminal 3 in 2013, as well as launching at East Midlands Airport in 2014 and London Stansted in 2015.

Parent company MAG has also exported the Escape Lounge concept across the Atlantic to the US and has recently opened its first lounge at Minneapolis-St Paul Airport and in summer will open at Oakland International Airport.
