Thumbs up for 580 new homes

PLANS for 580 homes on a 100-acre site in Burscough, West Lancashire have been given the green light.

Yew Tree Farm address the housing shortage in the area and will include affordable homes and residential accommodation designed for the ageing population, say designers and developers.

The expansion forms part of a masterplan produced by architects, IBI Group for Crompton Property Developments.

The masterplan has been designed to improve connections between adjoining areas, enhance local public transport, in addition to providing space for local employment growth. The development is set to boost the local economy and sustain local jobs.

The scheme includes approximately 150,000sq ft of employment space, retail and community facilities, a new linear park, cycle and walking routes, allotments, and a site safeguarded for a future primary school.

Due to complete in 2027, the development sits within a wider 180 acre mixed-used extension of Burscough village.
