Legal news: Addleshaws; Hill Dicks; Myerson & more

A BANKING team from Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester advised Barclays on its $20m loan facility to Brighton-based Learning and Technologies Group, for the acquisition of Rustici Software LLC.

The acquisition which took place in the US, with funding from the UK, will see Learning and Technologies Group acquire Rustici’s online learning company.

The AG team was led by banking partner Martin O’Shea alongside Caroline Gray, Ricky Walker and Michael Atherton.

This transaction follows is the second that the team has advised Barclays Bank on in the space of week, having also supported Elysian Capital’s acquisition of Bury-based  toy manufacturer Sambro International.

COMMERCIAL firm Myerson Solicitors advised financial advisory firm Parsonage Limited on its merger with Liverpool and Yorkshire-based Redwood Independent Financial Planning.

Scott Sands,  corporate commercial partner at Altrincham-based Myerson, said: “With a fantastic reputation in the local market, the merger with Redwood will enable the business to go from strength to strength. “

The combined business now comprises of six staff and offers advice to individuals and companies on mortgages and auto-enrolment as well as investments and financial planning.

HILL Dickinson, the Liverpool-headquartered international law firm, has been recognised as one of the UK’s 100 most popular employers for school leavers.

The top 100 list reveals the most popular UK employers as voted for by 9,000 school and further education students in years 10-13.

Hill Dickinson recruits between 10 and 12 legal apprentices every year cross its Liverpool and Manchester offices. Apprentices join the firm as trainee paralegals on a two-year structured training programme, combining on-the-job training while studying towards the nationally recognised CILex Level 3 in Legal Services Diploma.

Managing partner, Peter Jackson said: “We’re incredibly proud of this recognition. We place great emphasis on nurturing young talent and the apprentices we recruit play a key role in the future of the firm. THE Manchester office of  Irwin Mitchell has chosen MedEquip4Kids as its 2016 Charity of the Year.

Employees will raise cash for the Manchester-based charity through bake sales, dress down days and organising special events.
 
The charity raises money to provide paediatric medical equipment and facilities for hospitals and community health teams aiming to help ensure babies, children and teenagers receive the best possible care when sick or injured.

Grahame Codd, regional managing partner at Irwin Mitchell, said: “We are looking forward to hosting plenty of our fundraising activities throughout the year to raise money for this very worthwhile cause.
