A-Plant swoops for climate control firm

EQUIPMENT and vehicle rental group A-Plant has completed the purchase of the brand and assets of Rapid Climate Control, a specialist in the hire and sale of portable cooling, drying and heating equipment.

The strategic acquisition builds on the Warrington-based company’s £1m acquisition last October of climate control company rental firm Fral UK.

Mark Pudney, regional managing director at A-Plant said: “Rapid is a well-established company and a leader in its field. With its eight locations across the UK, highly experienced team and specialist products the acquisition will allow us to better serve our customers.

Mark continued: “A-Plant already has a core climate control customer base working in traditional construction trades, but the addition of Fral UK and Rapid helps us to serve customers in events, facilities management, retail, media and data centres, where expert knowledge and experience are vital, as well as an expanded product range including dehumidifiers for emergency response situations, such as the recent floods.”

Established for more than 35 years, Rapid Climate Control is headquartered in Oldbury in the West Midlands and is one of the country’s leading temporary climate control specialists. It will now operate as a standalone division within A-Plant.

The acquisition is A-Plant’s second in the last month. In January it completed a £6m deal for GB Access, a specialist provider of hoist hire equipment.

In the six months to the end of October A-Plant’s revenue rose 8% to £178m. The company is part of Ashtead plc.
