Addleshaws wins £1bn airport transformation brief

LAW firm Addleshaw Goddard has been appointed as legal contractor to Manchester Airports Group’s (MAG) £1bn Manchester Airport Transformation Project.

The 10-year project, which will see operations focused on an enlarged and revamped Terminal 2 and the eventual closure of Terminal 1,  is said to be the biggest single construction project in Greater Manchester.

The MAN-TP projects as it is known will deliver a series of 60 enhancements including new retail outlets, quicker connections, a contemporary look and feel, more innovative products and services as well as smoother journeys for the millions of  passengers who use the UK’s third biggest airport each year.

The Addleshaws team in a highly competitve tender process was led by construction partner Nancy McGuire alongside Mike O’Connor, Mark Molyneux, John Joyce, Phil McDonnell, David Shaw, Chris Larkin and Ben Peecock.

McGuire said: “This is a significant appointment not only for the Construction and Projects teams but for AG in Manchester and we are thrilled to have been selected to work with MAG on MAN-TP. MAN-TP is a tremendously exciting project which will bring about real benefits not only for users of the airport but also for the Greater Manchester area.”

Brad Miller, MAN-TP director said; “We look forward to AG joining the project, which will enable Manchester Airport to meet the growing expectations of airlines and passengers and ensure it continues to play its role in delivering the Northern Powerhouse proposition.

“MAN-TP will give the north a modern, user friendly airport that will allow passengers to easily connect with global markets. Having a credible partner like AG on board will help us to deliver this effectively.”
