Major M-way disruption as man falls to his death

A FATAL accident on the M62  resulted in severe delays for motorists travelling into Liverpool with all lanes of the motorway closed before it was reopened later in the afternoon.

A man was reported to have died after falling from a bridge at the junction of Hall Lane, between junction six and seven in Knowsley with air amublance, rapid response and police scrambled to the scene.

Traffic moving west  between junctions seven, at the St Helens linkway, and six, at the Knowsley Expressway was diverted.

Traffic was also diverted from junction seven onto the A557 southbound.

North West Motorway Police reported that a road traffic collision forced motorway traffic to stop.

Highways England advised road users to allow plenty of extra time for their journey and to consider alternative routes.
