Green light for Widnes industrial scheme

COMMERCIAL property developer Stoford and land owner Ainscough Strategic Land have gained planning permission to create three industrial and warehouse units in a multi-million-pound development at a 24-acre site in Cheshire.

The development is at Ditton Park, Widnes, near junction six of the M62, and is expected to bring major investment and hundreds of jobs to the region.

The three units totalling 452,500 sq ft of warehouse and logistics space will be built at an allocated employment site within Halton Borough Council’s 3MG zone.

Ainscough Land Director Rachael Ainscough said: “Remediation work to be undertaken by Ainscough is due to begin soon and should be complete by late summer this year meaning the site could be ready for development to begin by Q4 2016.”

Stoford joint Managing Director Dan Gallagher added: “The 24.4-acre site is in an excellent location near to the Jaguar Land Rover plant at Halewood. It provides us with a great opportunity to create three industrial and warehouse units in an area that will appeal strongly to companies operating in various sectors, including suppliers working alongside JLR.

“Now we have received outline planning consent site preparation works will start with the aim of having it ready for development as soon as possible.”

The proposals includes units of 196,500 sq ft including 9,500 sq ft of offices, 174,250 sq ft including two-storey offices of 8,600 sq ft, and 85,800 sq ft including offices of 5,960 sq ft.
