Director leaves property firm to launch new venture

OBI Property director James C Scott has left the Manchester company to set up creative design studio business Cube 8 Studio.

Scott was also lead workplace consultant at the firm for four years, creating its workplace consultancy department after closing down his own interior design business JCS Designs of which OBI had been client.

He has previously worked for Herriots Design and Build in Wakefield.

During his time at OBI Scott led the design team for the Rentalcars.Com’s new 49,000 sq ft Manchester office at 35 Fountain Street, which has won national acclaim.

He also masterminded the design of its call centre at Sunlight House –  a 60,000 sq ft Manchester themed space.
 
Scott  was the sole designer for the headquarters for AO.com, the largest fit out project in Bolton for 2013 at 50,000 sq ft which was Mixology Winner 2014 for best medium to large interior design project of the year.

He also designed  Squire Patton Boggs’ new 38,000 sq ft office at 6 Wellington Place Leeds, which the company will move into soon.

His final OBI project was for client LJ Group, the ‘Albert Square portfolio’  – Victoria buildings, 2 Mount Street and  Northern Assurance Buildings.

Other clients in his extensive CV include Virgin Media, Centrica, Panonne Corporate, P & G, BSKY B, Knowledge Point 360, Booking.com, Allied London (Manchester House Reception) and Brewin Dolphin.

Cube 8 Studio is based in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and Scott says he is now looking to work with lik- minded individuals on commercial interiors.

Scott said: “I launched Cube 8 out of a passion to change human behaviour for the better, through interior and communication design by creating unique building interiors of identity, that bring out positive emotions.”
