Marine services group lands major windfarm contract

CUMBRIAN marine services specialist James Fisher has won a major contract to support a new offshore windfarm.

The Barrow-based firm said the marine services and support contract for Galloper Wind Farm Ltd is worth more than £25m.

Located 27km off the Suffolk coast,  Galloper Wind Farm,  a joint equity partnership between RWE Innogy UK, UK Green Investment Bank, Siemens Financial Services and Macquarie Capital, is a 336MW installation. Construction work will begin in June with a goal of becoming operational in March 2018.

James Fisher will be responsible for providing key elements of marine services and support to the Galloper team during the construction phase. Services will include construction site set-up, marine co-ordination, crew transfer vessels, vessel refueling and emergency response services.

The contract also includes the provision of ad-hoc support arrangements for diving services, operation of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and unexploded ordinance identification and disposal.

Nick Henry, chief executive of James Fisher said: “We are delighted to be working with Galloper Wind Farm Limited on this exciting and technically complex project.  The contract entails bringing together a range of services from across our group and utilises the experience and investments made in recent years in offshore renewables.

“We are committed to being part of driving operational efficiencies and reducing contractual risk through the integration of these services.”
